An Influential Life
Retired Professor Adds to Her Legacy With a Gift
Joan Curry taught for 25 years in the Reading and Language Department at San Diego State University. She served as director of the Clinical Training Center, an interdisciplinary center at San Diego State University that is open to the community.
With a personal motto of “Did anything I do make a difference?” Joan has spent many years sharing her time and talents with the San Diego community.
In 2013, Joan had a CD maturing and wanted to find a way to continue earning interest. With interest rates so low, a charitable gift annuity was the obvious choice. Joan had the CD transferred to SDSU and received a tax deduction for her gift. A charitable gift annuity–is the gift that keeps on giving. Joan receives money each year to travel all while knowing she is supporting student success.
San Diego State has already benefited greatly from her many years of service, and now her impact will be felt for many years to come.
